How will I know what my PIN is?
If you've already got a PIN for your current Egg Card it will stay the same. With Egg, you can check your PIN online at any time - just log in to 'your accounts', select the 'Security details' tab, and then select the 'View your PIN' option. This is also handy if you ever forget your PIN or need a reminder. Alternatively, you can call us on 08451 233 233 and we'll send you your PIN by post but this will take 7-10 days.

What happens if I forget my PIN or get it wrong?
You'll have three chances to enter your PIN correctly when you're trying to pay. If you enter it incorrectly three times in a row your PIN will be locked and you'll need to unlock it before you can use it again. You can unlock your PIN by correctly entering it at a VISA branded cash machine.

Do I have to have a chip and PIN card?
Yes. All your credit and debit cards will be replaced with chip and PIN cards over the next two years. If you feel there are circumstances why you cannot use a chip and PIN card and you'd like to be issued with a signature Egg Card instead, please get in touch. We can review this on an individual basis.

Will I need to sign the back of my new card?
Yes, you must sign it as soon as you receive it. Not all retailers have the new equipment yet, so you may still be asked to sign for some purchases. You might also want to use your card abroad, in places where chip and PIN hasn't yet been introduced.

Will I be able to use my chip and PIN enabled card abroad?
Chip and PIN is being introduced in some other countries too. In countries where chip and PIN isn't used, you'll be asked to sign a receipt to confirm the transaction. So, it's still important to sign the back of your card as soon as it arrives.

Will I need to use my PIN for telephone, internet or mail order purchases?
No. As you haven't signed for these transactions in the past, you won't need to enter your PIN with the new chip and PIN system.

How do I unblock my PIN?
If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times whilst making an in-store purchase, your card will be blocked - and you'll need to unblock it before you can use it again.
Cards can be unblocked by:
Entering the correct PIN the next time you use your card - you can find out your number by logging into your accounts and selecting the option to 'View your PIN' which is found under the 'Security details' tab.
Going to a hole in the wall and following the on-screen instructions. Egg Card PINs can only be unblocked at Visa ATMs and Egg Money cards can only be unblocked at MasterCard ATMs.
