Using the Egg website should be easy, but if you're new to the internet, here you'll find some basic principles to help you get going.

How do I access my Egg account online?  Once you've opened an account, you'll be able to access it by selecting 'Your accounts' from the navigation bar at the top of each page.

Do I need a specific Internet Service Provider to access Egg's site?  No, you can access Egg through any ISP.

How secure is the Egg website?  Our website incorporates 128-bit encryption. This means your data is protected and can't be viewed by anyone else. All of your personal and account details are held in the secure area of our site.

I have a Macintosh computer. Can I still access your site and service my account?  If your browser is Netscape Navigator 4.08 or higher, or you're using a Safari browser, there should be no problem in accessing your account with a Macintosh.

I prefer to operate my account online but I've been asked to call in. Why?  Unless we are able to e-mail you securely, we may need to speak to you over the phone about anything that involves secure information.

When I enter my Egg security details, why am I sometimes looped back to the log in screen?  It may be that you don't have cookies enabled. You need to have cookies enabled because when you ask to see the first page of the secure area, the system needs to recognise you're the same person that passed the customer log in. If you'd like to know how to enable cookies, go to Help with cookies.

Why can I access my account from my home PC but not from work?  Most computers used in corporate or educational organisations are set up with a firewall. It acts as a filter that may prevent information getting in or out of a protected network because of its content.

Egg's application forms and the 'Your money' area are located on a secure server, and access to a secure server may be denied if a company's network is protected with a firewall. You may need to check with your IT administrator to see if a firewall is in place.

When I attempt to enter the 'your accounts' area I receive a message saying I need 128-bit encryption. What does this mean?  128-bit encryption is a secure form of encryption. We use this to ensure that your details cannot be viewed by anyone else, so your browser needs to support the 128-bit encryption that our site uses. For more information on this, go to Help with security
