There are several ways to make a payment to your Egg credit card.

As part of your Credit Agreement with Egg you must have a Direct Debit set up on your Egg Card. When your account is opened this is automatically set to take the minimum payment each month, but you can change this (to take the full payments or a specific amount) online.

You can manage all aspects of your Direct Debit by following these steps:

1. Log in to 'your accounts'.

From the 'Your money' page, click on the 'view' link next to your Egg Card account summary. This will take you to the 'Egg Card recent transactions' page. Then select ‘Your Direct Debit’ from the menu on the left of the page.

Or select the 'Move money' tab on the main navigation - options here include:
  • Make a one-off payment
  • Change your regular payments (Direct Debits)
  • Make a balance transfer to your Egg Card
  • Update/view your accounts address book

In addition to your regular Direct Debit, you can also make a payment to your Egg Card using any of the five payment options below:

1. Debit card

The debit card must be held in your name.

Log in to 'your accounts' and select the 'Move money' tab. Then go to 'Make a one-off payment' and input the amount you want to pay.

If you have accounts stored in the from drop-down box they will appear, if the account you want to pay from isn't already saved in your address book, select 'add' and save the account details there.

2. Transfer from an Egg Savings Account

From the 'Make a one-off payment' option input the amount you want to pay.

Your Egg Savings Account will be stored in the 'from' drop down box and just select your Egg Card from the 'to' drop down box.

A transfer before 10pm from an Egg Savings Account will be credited to your card account for interest calculation purposes with effect from the date the transfer is made. Otherwise it will be credited on the next business day.

3. BACS payment (electronic transfer)

To make a BACS payment to your Egg Card account, ask your external bank to transfer money by BACS to:
  • Sort code: 40-02-50
  • Account number: 01071181 and your 16-digit Egg Card number (this is used as a reference).
BACS payments take up to four business days to reach us. This will depend on when your bank processes the payment.

We'll credit your account for interest calculation purposes with effect from the business day on which we receive the payment.

4. Faster Payments

Check whether your external bank has the facilities to make a Faster Payment. If they do, you'll need to provide the following information:

  • Sort code: 40-02-50
  • Account number: 01071181 and your 16-digit Egg Card number (this is used as a reference).
  • Faster Payments are usually sent to us by your bank on the day you make the request. This will depend on when your bank processes the payment.

Faster Payments received before 11.45pm on a business day will be credited to your card account for interest calculation purposes with effect from that day. Otherwise, Faster Payments will be credited with effect from the next business day.

    5. Cheque

You should make your cheque payable to 'Egg, (Account holder name (s)), (Account number)'. Eg Egg, Mr Smith, 12345678 (draw a line through any unused space on the payee line so that no-one can add extra numbers or words). Your cheque is likely to be returned if it is only made payable to 'Egg'.

    Send your cheque to:

    Egg Monetary Team
    Egg
    Riverside Road
    Pride Park
    Derby
    DE99 3GG

Your cheque payment will be applied to your account when the cheque clears. As we're not a clearing bank, this can take between seven to ten business days. The central clearing cycle only applies to cheques paid into most clearing bank accounts (where clearance normally takes three business days). During this period you will not be able to spend against the value of the cheque.

There is a £2 charge for using this payment method.
